IT Consultant (6-month contract)

We are looking on behalf of our client for an IT Consultant to review, stabilise and strengthen their internal IT function.

Duties include:

  • Conduct a comprehensive review of the current IT environment.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies, risks, gaps and areas requiring immediate remediation.
  • Produce a clear finding report with prioritised recommendations and action plans.
  • Review existing IT policies, procedures, standards and governance documentation, identifying any gaps, weaknesses, or areas that are outdated or not fit for purpose.
  • Develop and implement practical policies, procedures, operational documentation and governance frameworks aligned to business needs and industry best practice.
  • Create or strengthen Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) procedures to improve resilience and preparedness.
  • Work with stakeholders across the business to embed improved compliance, accountability and operational discipline.
  • Implement improvements to IT systems, processes and working practices to strengthen day-to-day operations.
  • Improve service delivery, ticket management, escalation processes, user support standards and asset management.
  • Review cybersecurity controls, documentation and operational procedures, implementing necessary improvements.
  • Assess whether current technologies, suppliers, and support models are suitable for business requirements.
  • Provide commercially focused IT advice to business leadership to support decision-making and prioritisation.
  • Make pragmatic recommendations on infrastructure, cloud services, licensing, security and service delivery.

Required:

  • Proven experience in senior IT consultancy, IT transformation, or IT management roles.
  • Strong background across infrastructure, Microsoft environments, networking, cybersecurity and IT operations.
  • Experience reviewing, developing, and enhancing IT functions, processes and operational structures.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on delivery.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience creating IT policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving and organisational abilities.
  • Experience managing or mentoring small IT teams.
  • End-to-end M365 administration including online architecture, configuration and governance.
