Head Of Finance

We are looking for a Head of Finance to join a forward-thinking and fast-growing Insurance company with offices in Gibraltar. Our client is at the forefront of technology and are actively expanding their market share in the UK and other jurisdictions. The Head of Finance will be a qualified ACA, ACCA or similar with proven senior level experience in the Insurance sector at a Board level. (Already an approved person with the GFSC or UK FSC).

Duties:

  • Advise the Board and executive team on financial planning, regulatory compliance, and commercial opportunities.
  • Play an active role in strategic decision-making as part of the senior leadership team.
  • Oversee SCR management and treasury operations, working closely with the Group Head of Finance Strategy to ensure efficient capital allocation and liquidity management.
  • Lead all aspects of management accounting, ensuring accurate, timely, and insightful financial information for local and group purposes.
  • Oversee and mentor the Financial Accountant in the team.
  • Collaborate with the Director of FP&A and the Group finance team, who provide primary support for forecasting and reporting, to ensure reporting requirements are met.
  • Act as the principal contact for internal and external auditors.
  • Act as the principal contact for the GFSC.
  • Support the annual ORSA process and maintain effective internal controls and compliance frameworks.
  • Partner with business leaders to provide financial input to commercial negotiations, pricing, and partnership arrangements.
  • Manage relationships with banks and investment managers.
  • Drive the automation and standardisation of finance processes by leading the transition to the group ERP system (NetSuite), in close collaboration with the group finance team.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency within the finance function.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in senior finance leadership within regulated insurance or financial services, with strong strategic and operational capability.
  • In-depth knowledge of solvency capital requirements (SCR), treasury operations, and regulatory frameworks including ORSA and GFSC engagement.
  • Strong technical expertise in management accounting, forecasting, and group-level financial reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead audits, ensure compliance, and maintain robust internal controls.
  • Commercial acumen with experience supporting business decisions, pricing, partnerships, and financial scenario analysis.
  • Effective leadership and team development skills, with a hands-on approach and ability to work in lean environments.
  • Experience driving finance systems transformation and process automation, ideally with ERP platforms like NetSuite.
  • Stakeholder management, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and manage external relationships
  • Recognised financial qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
