We are looking on behalf of our client, a well established financial services provider, for a Client Accountant. The role is primarily client-facing and involves managing a portfolio of key clients, overseeing the preparation of accounts and tax filings, and leading a small team.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of corporate and trust clients, acting as a primary point of contact and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Prepare and review statutory financial statements and management accounts for client entities.
- Prepare and review tax computations and tax returns, including Gibraltar corporation tax and dividend returns.
- Ensure all client deliverables are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
- Respond to client queries in a clear and professional manner, providing practical and commercially focused advice where appropriate.
- Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and other professional advisers as required.
- Manage, supervise, and support a team of approximately 4–5 team members.
- Review work prepared by team members, providing clear feedback and ensuring quality and consistency across client files.
- Provide on-the-job training and day-to-day technical guidance to support staff development.
- Assist with workload planning, task allocation, and ensuring deadlines are met across the team.
- Escalate issues to the Senior Manager where appropriate and contribute to resolving operational or technical challenges.
- Oversee day-to-day administrative matters within the client accounting team, including workflow management and internal reporting.
- Ensure client files, records, and documentation are maintained in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes, templates, and controls.
- Support the Senior Manager with reporting, resourcing matters, and ad-hoc projects as required.
Requirements:
- Professionally qualified accountant (ACCA or equivalent).
- Several years’ post-qualification experience in a client-facing accounting role, ideally within professional services or corporate services.
- Strong technical accounting and tax knowledge, with the ability to prepare and review accounts and tax computations independently.
- Proven experience managing, reviewing, and developing junior team members.
- Strong communication skills, with confidence dealing directly with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Experience working with multi-entity or international client structures.
- Familiarity with Viewpoint or similar accounting systems.
- Prior experience in audit or working closely with external auditors.
