    Financial Controller reporting to the European Finance Manager

    Primary duties and responsibilities:

    • Manage the other members of the Finance team (three Accounts Assistants). Identify their personal development needs. Monitor and mentor the team to ensure their performance meets the required standards.
    • Support the Accounts Assistants in reviewing their preparation and posting of journals for month end up to production of the monthly Management Accounts.
    • Preparation of management accounts at month end and circulation to European Finance Manager.
    • Supervision of monthly Credit Control and circulation of reports to Management.
    • Preparation and production of the IFRS Statutory Accounts.
    • Preparation of regulatory and tax returns for European Finance Manager review.
    • Primary preparer of all Solvency II returns including the QRT and SFCR and supporting schedules.
    • Preparation of MD & A for European Finance Manager review as part of quarterly management and board reporting requirements.
    • Provision of any supporting schedules and documentation to support group reporting including the semi-annual actuarial review.
    • Develop Finance Team processes, procedures and controls to support internal compliance requirements.
    • Support and assist European Finance Manager with the preparation of annual and 3 year budgets and business plans.
    • External audit responsibilities: Support the European Finance Manager in the year-end audit for the company and be the primary coordinator and responsible for leading the audit.

    Candidate requirements:

    • Computer literate with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
    • Experience in use of insurance systems and familiarity with the insurance market is preferred.
    • Willingness to work towards CII qualifications recognising the company’s CII Corporate Chartered Insurers status
    • Recently qualified or close to qualified in a recognised Accounting qualification (CIMA, ACCA, etc)
    • Experience in use of Great Plains – MS Dynamics is desirable.
