Head of Business Risk Management

Detailed Roles & Responsibilities:

  • To undertake team management responsibilities of two Business Risk Managers in London and Gibraltar
  • To oversee suitability and cross-border group controls and report accordingly to Group Business Development and Group Risk Office
  • To manage operational risk incidents and their reporting
  • To oversee First Line of Defence preventative (client categorisation, advisory services sign-up, discretionary mandates sign-up, alternative investments sales process, etc.) and periodic detective controls (trade process, payments process, quality of advice, PRIIPs, etc.)
  • To manage the FCA’s certified persons regime, including initial and annual assessment of staff in scope (CRMs, FSA, management, etc.), monthly 121s, phase 1 and phase 2 supervisory activities, certificates and regulatory reporting
  • To assign and follow up on annual mandatory e-learning
  • To review the agenda and minutes for the Bank’s Joint Operating Committee
  • To maintain BCM documentation and to co-ordinate/perform annual tests
  • To support the front-office in the compliant execution of internal processes
  • To own and manage all outsourcing arrangements against the Bank’s outsourcing governance framework to:
    • Ensure the services are provided in line with the agreed metrics
    • Maintain effective communications with Service Providers
    • Report / escalate MI and issues as necessary
    • Assess and manage any changes to the services provided
    • Ensure the JIRA-based register correctly reflects the service; and
    • Maintain all associated documentation including Service Level
    • Agreements, Outsourcing Assessments, Business Continuity Plans and Exit Strategies
  • To undertake Product and Service Reviews in line with the Group periodic assessments, including:
    • Review of the PDC Product Review and Risk Assessment as well as any other associated documents (e.g. process flow, marketing materials, agreements / forms etc.)
    • Preparation of presentations to local and Group product committees
    • Obtaining all relevant approvals prior to any product launch
    • Supporting product launch through the implementation of process flows, documentation, training etc.
    • Establishing a reporting framework to appropriate committees i.e. Joint Operating Committee, Management Committees, Risk Committee and Board
  • To maintain the Bank’s product, service and outsourcing related Directives, Working Directives and processes

  • Strong IT skills; learn to use multiple systems interchangeably for the completion of everyday tasks and proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Visio and Outlook)

Candidate requirements:

  • CISI Level 4 or Level 6, strongly desirable
  • University degree is desirable
  • Knowledge of the banking industry and relevant regulatory requirements /expectations
  • Experience in risk management
  • Experience working within private banking – ideally in a small to mid-sized organisation and/or a non-UK or Gibraltar headquartered organisation operating in the UK or Gibraltar would be particularly valuable
  • In-depth knowledge of outsourcing arrangements
