Compliance Officer & MLRO

Compliance Officer and MLRO required for a well-established financial services organisation based in Gibraltar fiduciary/QROPS experience.  Candidates must have proven experience in a similar role within financial services. Salary & benefits £DOE.

Candidate requirements:

  • Have a minimum of 2 year’s compliance experience and will need to be approved by the FSC.
  • Have superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Have strong inter-personal skills when dealing with clients and work colleagues.
  • Have the ability to work under pressure and show great attention to detail.
  • Specific experience in trust and company management, pensions management, fund administration and bond listings would be advantageous.

The role:

  • Senior Team Member reporting directly to the MD and Chairman
  • Proficient in managing fast-paced and changing workloads to align with priorities and levels of risk to the firm
  • Supporting the resolution of risk and compliance issues, queries and concerns, raised both internally and externally
  • Attentive to detail to ensure the firm is not exposed to regulatory and/or reputational risks.
  • Delivering ad-hoc risk and compliance project work
  • Allocating and prioritising work across the monitoring team, ensuring SLAS are met
  • Supporting Managers within the Financial Crime Operations department with day to day Operational requirements
  • Review of AML/CTF strategy
  • Source of referral for Payment Screening, Customer Screening and Transaction Monitoring alerts and investigation queries
  • Source of referral for wider teams across the firm on general AML/CTF enquiries and providing support across all functions of the firm
  • Keeping updated with any regulation changes (JMLSG, NCA, OFAC, HM Treasury, POCA 2002, Terrorism Act 2000, FCA and FATF)
  • Providing subject matter expertise, leadership and direction to the Trust Company and Fund teams and to management across the organisation
  • Managing the enhancement of the GRC framework (AML/CTF, Sanctions, ABC and Fraud)
  • Able to engage with relevant internal and external stakeholders, including other functions, departments and regulators
  • Promoting and providing advice on best practise within critical business areas
  • Identifying training/skill-set requirements and coaching staff re learning opportunities
  • Reviewing suspicious transaction patterns relating to money laundering and terrorist financing
  • Filing SARS following investigation of suspicion and useful evidence provided to FIU.
  • Investigate possible matches with the use of systems such as C6
  • Undertaking EDD on PEPS etc.
  • Providing appropriate Ml for the execute board.
  • Review processes and procedures to ensure fraud prevention to protect the firm, staff and customers.
  • Analysing and reviewing potential matches against sanctioned individuals/entities, high risk countries, PEPS
  • Preventing Sanction breaches
  • Escalating Sanctions and Transaction Monitoring near-misses to the Board
  • Maintaining adequate systems and controls for Sanction screening
