Compliance Officer (Banking)

Main responsibilities:

  • To assist and support the Compliance team in providing a robust and effective Compliance control framework.
  • Complete AML and non- AML compliance monitoring activities, including investigations of any findings and follow up activities.
  • Perform risk assessments and escalation of risks in relation to monitoring and controls.
  • Coordinate and preparing submissions for the internal account opening committee, including following up on recorded actions, producing relevant statistics and minutes.
  • Collate, assess and report compliance key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Periodically review of the Bank’s, policies, procedures and compliance manuals jointly with other Compliance team members.
  • Undertake customer due diligence checks on new and existing customers, including assessing reputational risk factors and other AML/CTF considerations such as adverse media.
  • Support submissions of regular and ad hoc regulatory reporting (e.g. Annual Financial Crime Return).
  • Support the client onboarding team with queries on complex submissions and CDD
  • Undertake ad hoc investigations on client accounts / activity and report results accordingly.
  • Support investigations of client complaints
  • Assist in periodic updates / reporting to the stakeholders within the wider Group, including relevant KPIs and reporting.
  • Contribute to the review of the existing control environment and procedures.
  • Provide support in any additional compliance matters, new projects and any ad-hoc reporting or regulatory developments.
  • Respond to internal and external requests for information i.e. TIEA and client search requests.

Candidate requirements:

  • Familiarity with compliance monitoring frameworks and risk based testing.
  • Sound knowledge of AML/CTF core principles.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to multi-task (manage several activities, setting priorities).
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good MS Excel skills and ability to extract, analyse and comments on automated data.
  • Flexibility in the handling of changing workloads

  • Readiness to work independently on complex issues
  • Strong communication skills
