Business & Financial Analyst (FTC)

Business & Financial Analyst – 12-month contract – Insurance sector

The work is heavily accounting and financial reporting focused and requires a candidate with strong analytical and numerical skills, a high level of computer literacy, with a strong focus on attention to detail.  The candidate will need to be self-motivated, well organized, able to manage projects and prioritize a broad range of activities.  They will be required to liaise and collaborate daily with colleagues in Dublin and Gibraltar.

  • Prepare monthly bordereaux reconciliations
  • Perform data integrity checks
  • Assist with quarterly financial reporting validations and controls
  • Create and bind submissions on underwriting system and file supporting documents
  • Ensure necessary compliance documentation is complete for assigned contracts
  • Assist with large loss claims bookings in the companies’ underwriting system
  • Book XOL premiums and ensure timely payment
  • Log cash transactions in the company’s underwriting system
  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned
  • Understand business terms and reinsurance protections for each delegated relationship
  • Provide information required by the Insurance Manager for compliance and regulatory purposes
  • Develop existing accounting and transactional templates to assist the onboarding for new business
  • Perform ad-hoc tasks as assigned

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • A university degree, preferably with a numerical focus
  • Ideally qualified/part qualified accountant (AAT, ACCA, CIMA), at minimum meaningful insurance accounting experience.
  • Experience in the insurance industry or within an MGA, ideally within the UK Motor line of business
  • SEC Experience advantageous
  • Experience in handling large policy level data sets
  • Experience and ability with solving quantitative problems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applications, with advanced Excel (e.g. pivot tables) and Access skills
  • Able to work independently and be a problem solver
  • Ability to follow direction and work towards goal
