Assistant Finance Manager

Our client, a reputable financial services company working within the insurance sector, is looking to recruit an Assistant Finance Manager to join their team in Gibraltar who will form part of their finance team, with the primary responsibility for the strategic day-to-day management of protected cell companies.

Main responsibilities:

  • Invoicing the Protected Cell Company, with multiple Cells. This will include all Cells in Gibraltar and several Cells in Malta.
  • Preparing quarterly aged debtors. Chasing outstanding debts on a weekly basis. Monitoring and Managing the Invoice Master.
  • Request/Review payments sent to our payments co-ordinator.
  • Payments include Reinsurance/Taxes/Expenses Fees and claim payments. Prepare, monitor and reconcile cashbooks. Manage cash balances on the banking system.
  • Regular review and reconciliation of tax payments, premiums, reinsurance recoveries, company expenses and other administrative payments as necessary.
  • Preparation of quarterly tax returns to HMRC and Fiscal representative
  • Hosting weekly status meetings with the Finance and Insurance Teams to discuss any queries/updates.
  • Participation in maintaining and adhering to the corporate governance platform, in particular in relation to check lists, supporting information, authorisations, sign-offs and time scales.
  • Ad-hoc queries from clients and liaising with colleagues in other domiciles and departments.
  • Responsible for the delivery of a high-quality service, ensuring that all client service standards are met for the client base.

Candidate requirements:

  • Part or Full ACCA or equivalent
  • Minimum of three years experience within an accounting environment.
  • Insurance sector experience desirable.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Organised and able to multi-task and prioritise
  • General knowledge of industry products, regulations and developments
  • Ability to work independently and be proactive
  • Knowledgeable on the Accounting Standards
